In this hands-on workshop, Cherryl McIntyre will take you through the basic techniques of creating your own leather belt. And with Father's Day just around the corner, why not bring your Dad along!
From selecting the right piece of leather, what hardware and tools you need, to
getting the perfect measurements - you will learn the everything you need to know in crafting handmade leather belts including how to punch holes, burnish edges, and setting rivets and snaps.
The belt is made using pre coloured leather in brown, black, tan or natural, the belt is then finished with a solid brass or polished stainless-steel half buckle and keeper.
At the end of the day, you will have completed a 38mm full grain leather belt that will only get better with age, developing a deep, luxurious patina as only leather can.
The workshop covers how to dress and finish all edges to perfection!
You will learn many techniques with the emphasis on hands-on application such as:
- cutting leather straps
- bevelling leather
- burnishing and creasing cut edges
- attaching rivets or Chicago screws
- skiving leather
